MDA Stride & Ride 2010

Family & Friends,

As many of you know, our son Steve III has Congenital Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. Myotonic Dystrophy is one of the most variable and complicated disorders known and affects about 1 in 8,000 people. Approximately 1 in 20,000 babies are affected from birth with the Congenital form.

We're proud to tell you that we are participating for the second time in the MDA Stride & Ride on Sunday May 2nd, 2010 at Somerset Collection in Troy...that's right, we're going to join others as we walk to help Jerry's KidsĀ© and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). This is going to be a fun, meaningful way to help the MDA in the fight against neuromuscular disease. Funds raised through MDA special events help provide expert medical care at MDA clinics, MDA summer camps for youngsters, and many more services. MDA also funds hundreds of top scientists worldwide doing groundbreaking research, seeking treatments and cures. We need your help!

We'd like you to join us as a member of our team to help raise funds and come to Somerset to do the walk together -- we promise we'll have a great time and make a difference! To join our team, please visit: https://www.joinmda.org/detroitsnr2010/kiryakoza and follow the link at the bottom of that page. When you register, please identify that your are Striding and Riding for Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy.

If you can't join our team and walk with us, please click here to make a secure, online donation. 100% of all donations made to our team will be directly used to help find a cure for Myotonic Dystrophy. All donations are tax deductible. At a conference this past October, 2009, we met with one of the leading researchers looking for a cure for Myotonic Dystrophy. In his keynote address, he was extremely confident that there would be a treatment and cure within the next 5 years. It is because of donations from people like you that the MDA is able to fund this type of research!

Thanks in advance for your continued help in this fight. Don't hesitate to call or email us with any questions.

Last year our team raised nearly $2000 with the help of many of you. We're hoping to raise even more this year! Together we'll make a difference and accomplish our goal!

Steven & Hamsa Kiryakoza

P.S. We're counting on you, please make a donation or join our team at https://www.joinmda.org/detroitsnr2010/kiryakoza
